1D’s ‘Best Song Ever’ covered by Gabrielle Aplin: Cover Corner

Welcome to Cover Corner, that special place on Maximum Pop! where we take well known and loved songs and deliver them in a not-so-well-known way that you will probably love!

I’m sure you are all familiar with Gabrielle Aplin- remember the John Lewis advert, she sang the song in the background, and her track ‘Panic Cord’ is pretty amazeballs too. Gabrielle visited Radio 1’s Live Lounge yesterday and performed a cover song (which is the norm in the Live Lounge), but it wasn’t just any cover… It was quite possibly the Best Cover Ever.

That’s right, Ms. Aplin covered 1D’s latest example of pop perfection, ‘Best Song Ever’ (you probably guessed that from the title though, didn’t you?). Gabrielle slowed it down to an acoustic pace and performed the song beautifully with some haunting vocals and with some guy shaking what can only be described as a satsuma in the background.

We are massive fans of this cover! What do you think? Let us know in the comment box below or on Twitter or, if you are feeling really lazy, telepathically.
