Believe it or not, but a One Direction album was this year’s most unwanted Christmas present.

We’re in a state of disbelief but apparently One Direction‘s 2012 album ‘Take Me Home’ was the most unwanted item this Christmas as it was the most traded-in item on Music Magpie this festive period.

On Christmas Day and Boxing Day alone 31,468 copies of the number one album were traded in.

Adele‘s ’21’ was the second most popular trade-in with 25,897 handed over to Music Magpie.

Music Magpie’s Liam Howley had this to say on the shocking news: “Our CD and DVD trade-ins are always a good barometer of what or who is waning in popularity and this year’s trade-in figures make for quite interesting reading, particularly for One Direction.”

“Perhaps their tumultuous year has had more of an impact on their popularity than first thought? Have some of the early fans moved on? I guess time will tell when, or if, they make another album together,” he finished.

Don’t worry boys, you’ll always be top of our Christmas lists.
