Myths Busted: Is Niall Horan releasing his debut solo single in July?

After all the success Zayn‘s enjoyed with his debut single ‘Pillowtalk’ and album ‘Mind of Mine’, all eyes are on the other members of One Direction to see who will be the next to follow in Zayn’s footsteps.

What with all the news about Niall taking an extended hiatus and playing golf or something, no-one would have suspected that he could be the next one to step out from under the mighty shadow of 1D.

But word on the street is that Niall’s debut solo single will be released on 10th July.  According to @SnatchedBops on Twitter, the project has been confirmed for this date.

We would love this to be true, but several fans have rubbished the claim on social media. The Twitter account reportedly has a bit of a history of writing stuff that turns out to be false, although they also do get it right sometimes, so it’s worth watching out for further announcements.

Niall himself isn’t giving anything away. In a recent interview he had this to say about his new record:

“I’ve been in the studio writing bits and pieces. Nothing is really in the pipeline in particular, just keeping the mind ticking over and doing what I like. I’ve always been into the writing and trying out different things musically.”

“I’ve made relationships with a few writers over the years so it’s been good calling them up saying, ‘Do you want to write?’ then popping into the studio. I haven’t done much, about five sessions maybe. I’ve just been chilling out.”

He did admit that he kind of misses being busy touring with 1D though…

Do you think the rumour that Niall’s solo stuff is arriving on 10th July is true? What musical direction would you like to see Niall go in?Tweet us your thoughts @maximumpop.
