My Kinda Book Club’s #ThisIsWhoIAm tour kicked off last night at Waterstones Piccadilly!

Last night we attended the first event in the My Kinda Book Club #ThisIsWhoIAm tour, at our second home in Waterstones Piccadilly. We saw authors Leila Sales, Sarra Manning, Harriet Reuter Hapgood and Sarah Crossan form the most excellent panel, expertly chaired by Anna James.

The authors covered a lot of hot topics and each gave unique answers to every question – one of which was ‘how would you define YA?’ We can all agree that’s a very daunting question (good work, Anna!) but the panel all answered perfectly.

The event ended with all the authors contributing items for a time capsule, inspired by ‘The Square Root of Summer’, of course!

We were thrilled to see some of our literary pals there. Alwyn Hamilton, author of ‘Rebel of The Sands’ looking delightfully summery; Stacey of The Pretty Books blog; George Lester booktuber extraordinaire; Lisa Williamson, author of ‘The Art of Being Normal and recent recipient of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in YA; Jim who blogs at YAYeahYeah – to name a few!

We also stayed afterwards to celebrate the launch of Harriet Reuter Hapgood’s debut ‘The Square Root of Summer’! A lot of wine was consumed by us and the authors present…they’re such wicked influences!

From the looks of other tweets with the #ThisIsWhoIAm hashtag, we weren’t the only ones who had an absolute ball and left inspired…

The #ThisIsWhoIAm tour will continue until this Friday 10th June. The next stop will be Brighton, then Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester. Authors Sara Barnard, Melinda Salibury, Juno Dawson, Eve Ainsworth, Lisa Williamson and Lauren James will be joining at points along the way!

Are you heading to another stop on the tour? Let us how how it is @maximumpopbooks!
