I took my mum to a festival and things got really crazy really quickly

We sent our MP! photographer Tom Leishman to British Summer Time festival in London’s Hyde Park last Friday 8th July and he took along his mum for her birthday. As you would expect, madness ensued.

Tom: Pre-festival daytime drinking on the tube.

Tom: I taught my mom that drinking at a festival is expensive so I smuggled in a bottle of rum inside my hat 😜

Tom: My mom said the festival burgers where good, but not as good as her home made cooking. We had Portobello mushroom, blue cheese and egg burgers with chips 😵😵

Mum: We had a few laughs in the Amazon photo booth dressing up and acting out on stage, then had a few Polaroids taken at another booth. A souvenir of our day.

Mum: The atmosphere started off so chilled even though there were crowds and crowds of people around and later when the bands came on stage it was electrifying!

Mum: Couldn’t have chosen a better line up, with two of my favourite bands Alabama Shakes and Mumford & Sons.

Tom: Mum working the crowd during Mumford and Sons set.

Mum: Mumford & Sons put on an incredible show. I’m now a fan.

Tom’s final verdict

I think everyone should do something like this with their mums! Such a great bonding session. Festivals bring the best out in everyone.

Mum’s final verdict

What a spectacular day! The drinks flowed, the sun shone, I made some fantastic new friends and, to top it all off, I had the privilege of sharing the  experience with my wonderful son. I think all mums (and dads) should give it a try at least once in their life. As for me, oh my gosh I loved it so much I want to do it all over again… roll on the next gig!!!

We highly recommend you take your mum along to your next festival. It might just be the best thing you’ve ever done. Tweet us @maximumpop if you’re taking your mum to a festival. We would LOVE to see pictures so please send ’em in.
