Nothing quite beats sitting down and having a natter to another MASSIVE Harry Potter fan. J.K. Rowling’s masterpiece forms amazing friendships and we love fangirling out with someone over potions, spells, charms, fantastic beasts and so much more.
Maximum Pop! recently caught up with MuggleNet. They’re the world’s biggest Harry Potter fansite and have been keeping the magic alive since 1999. You can find everything from competitions to news articles to interviews to quizzes to fan fiction on the site – the list really is endless.
Us being us, we thought we’d add to the fun and games by challenging MuggleNet to the world’s hardest game of ‘Harry Potter: Would You Rather’. That’s right, wizards. This game’s a tricky one but thankfully MuggleNet’s Creative & Marketing Director, Kat, was up for the challenge.
Without further ado, here what she had to say.
Hi Kat! Hogwarts house are you?
I’m a Ravenclaw/Slytherin.
Could you explain a little bit about your role at MuggleNet?
My role is Creative & Marketing Director and I’ve been with the site for eleven years in October. I honestly have my hands in most things. My actual job description would be working with the Partners (like Warner Bro’s etc) on press releases and also providing guidance to our Social Media and Creative Team volunteers.
What’s the best thing about working for MuggleNet?
There are countless amazing reasons why I love working for MuggleNet, but at the tippy top is absolutely the family of volunteers. They’re the most passionate, creative, amazing people I know and I am honoured everyday to work with them. They make work and life enjoyable time and time again.
How important is Harry Potter to you and what’s it taught you over the years?
It isn’t possible to put a quantifiable collection of words together that accurately describes how important Harry Potter is to me. My love for the seven novels has transcended and has become a life, a family, a career. I’ve learned more about myself, love, loss, sacrifice, hope, daring, friendship (the list goes on and on…) through the lessons it teaches and the staff on our site than I ever imagined possible.
Would you rather go for a Butterbeer with J.K. Rowling or Daniel Radcliffe?
JK Rowling without a doubt. I love Daniel, but he is no longer Harry to me. JK Rowling will always be one of the people I look up to most in this world, and I would give just about anything to have some private time with her.
Would you rather be taught by Albus Dumbledore or Severus Snape?
Albus Dumbledore. I am not a Snape apologist, and while he is undoubtedly talented, I want to learn from the Only One He Ever Feared.
Would you rather work for Gilderoy Lockhart or be Lucius Malfoy’s house elf?
Are we talking pre-Chamber of Secrets Lockhart? Or post backfired memory charm Lockhart? Either way, I choose Gilderoy. He may be obnoxious, but at least I would be free. SPEW FTW.
Would you rather have Voldemort or Peter Pettigrew as a father?
Lord Voldemort would never have kids (sorry Cursed Child canon believers), but I guess Pettigrew.
Would you rather be potions partners with Draco Malfoy or Pansy Parkinson?
Draco, hands down. He is on Snape’s good side and that can’t be a bad thing.
Would you rather be married to Harry Potter or Ron Weasley?
I am a big fan of humor in a partner, and I think that Ron would bring plenty of that to our life together. Plus, gingers run in my family, so…
Would you rather play Quidditch or Wizard’s Chess for the rest of your life?
24/7/365? Chess. I don’t like heights and broomsticks look ridiculously uncomfortable.
Would you rather be best friends with Hermione and bottom of the class or enemies with Hermione and top of the class?
I was never a really wonderful student, so I feel like being friends with Hermione would be the most beneficial solution.
Would you rather have Fred and George Weasley as an enemy or Draco Malfoy as a friend?
This is tough, because I can’t imagine what it would be like to have Fred and George dislike me. I guess I choose Draco?
Would you rather be a Death Eater or a plain old muggle who knows nothing about the magical world?
Muggle. Ignorance is bliss.
Would you rather save Albus Dumbledore or Sirius Black?
Unpopular opinion, but Albus Dumbledore. I think Sirius was a mostly rude and ungrateful person, and did not do any favors for Harry in the short time they knew each other. Dumbledore had a lot of work left to do.
Would you rather be sorted into Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff?
Ravenclaw, but not because I dislike Hufflepuff! Some of my favorite people on this planet are Puffs. Pottermore put me in Ravenclaw, so I have to stand up for my house.
Would you rather be sorted into Slytherin or Gryffindor?
Slytherin. Gryffindor is too cliché. I am a very ambitious person, and Slytherin is the House I see myself fitting into more and more as I get older.
