The Euro 2016 competition kicked off on Friday. We know what you’re thinking though: wouldn’t it be so much better if, rather than football, it was amazing popstars competing for the prize? Don’t worry, we’ve got it covered. Over the next three weeks, we’re going to be introducing you to 24 of the best artists from across the continent. Then, the best will be competing in the final. The best part: you decide the winners.
Here are the first four artists, and don’t forget to vote in the poll.
🇫🇷 France: Madeon
He’s already worked with the likes of Ellie Goulding and Lady Gaga, but Madeon also releases amazing music in his own right. He’s had two Top 40 singles in the UK, with ‘Finale’ and ‘Icarus’, and his album matched their successes. Not only that, but his live mash-up ‘Pop Culture’ has been viewed over 35 million times on YouTube.
🇨🇭 Switzerland: Luca Hänni
Ever wondered what would happen if Justin Bieber performed on the back of a yacht? Well, we might be able to help. Meet Luca Hänni, the Swiss hunk whose debut single ‘Don’t Think About Me’ went straight to Number One in his home country. This performance though is incredible.
🇷🇴 Romania: Nicole Cherry
Nicole Cherry burst onto the Romanian music scene when she was 14. Her debut single, Memories, went to Number 1 in Romania and was the fourth biggest seller of the year. Her latest single, ‘Cine Iubeste’ (which means ‘Who Loves’) sounds like a tropical version of Ariana’s ‘Sometimes’. We are obsessed.
🇦🇱 Albania: ENCA
With over one million followers on Instagram, ENCA really is the Albanian Kylie Jenner. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t an amazing popstar, though. Her latest single ‘DREQ’ is an amazing slice of Europop, and the video rivals that of Nicki Minaj or Katy Perry. Now, where can we get a teal fur coat?
Who’s your favourite in this round? Vote in the poll below, and come back on Wednesday when England, Russia, Wales and Slovakia will battle it out. Don’t forget to let us know who your favourite is by tweeting us at @maximumpop!
