We sent our social media guru Gemma down to Stoke Park for Guilfest 2014. She’s a bit Jedward mad so we thought we’d be nice. Here’s her top 5 moments from the pop packed weekend.
With one of the biggest crowds for the Good Time Stage – Jedward completely SMASHED their 40 minute set. During their performance of ‘All The Small Things’ John braved the seas of screaming Jedward fans and jumped right in the crowd! (Right by us actually, and we’ve gotta admit, we squealed a little). Never a dull moment when watching these two. Guilfest also got to see the first UK performance of their self written track ‘Free Spirit’ with the crowd singing along right to the end. We also can’t forget Edward’s little diva moment when given some white plastic garden chairs for their acoustic performances. We love a good diva!
Words can’t describe our reaction to Sam Bailey’s performance. AMAZING voice. The hour long set saw her perform some tracks from her album including her debut single ‘Skyscraper’. And boy can she hit those high notes. We danced our socks off to ‘How Will I Know‘ and we weren’t the only ones! Inbetween songs she had chats with the crowd including one about her ‘X Factor baby’ saying that Sharon Osbourne would be the godmother and fellow X Factor contestant Nicholas Mcdonald would be Godfather. How sweet!
SHANE RICHIE AND THE PRELUDE
Who knew Alfie Moon had a band?! What would Kat say! Performing for the first time at Guilfest, the band performed some rock classics and songs from today it sure got the whole crowd up and dancing. We were there right at the front showing off our dance moves to ‘Moves Like Jagger’. And who remembers ‘Crazy Horses’?! We probably looked like crazy horses whilst rocking to this song. What must we have looked like!
KATRINA (EX KATRINA AND THE WAVES)
As we walked into the festival on Sunday the first thing we heard was Katrina singing Queen’s ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ – so we had to go join the party. She won Eurovision for us and she rocked the main stage. Performing her Eurovision hit ‘Love Shine A Light’ and another of her classics ‘Walking On Sunshine’ – she had everyone up and dancing – such a fitting song for the nice summer weather too!
THE DARLING BUDS
Twilight and The Mortal Instruments actor Jamie Campbell Bower has a band and managed a full acoustic tent with fans singing along to every word! The band may not be pop but we checked them out in the Acoustic Lounge and boy does he have a beautiful voice (and a lovely face too!) Performing mainly their own tracks such as ‘Better Man’ and ‘Waiting’ (which were our personal faves) – they also performed a cover of Johnny Cash’s ‘Hurt’. It has to be said we have a soft spot for the bassist Tristan Marmont. I even bumped into Jamie after their performance and he called me a sweetheart. *fangirls forever*
Other acts that graced Guilfest included Ashley Roberts, Kingsland Road, The Hoosiers, Kool and the Gang and Miss Dynamite. Our list of highlights could go on FOREVER!
