‘All the Bright Places’ is beautiful inside and out, and meredith.mara shows us the proof!

Recently we got the chance to put a few questions to Meredith, who runs the beautiful bookstagram account meredith.mara. With almost 20k followers and a whole host of gorgeous bookish snaps, we were thrilled to chat with her about the abundance of pretty book covers out there and how bookstagram has impacted her life.

What first attracted you to bookstagram and made you begin posting bookish photos? The incredible genuineness, creativity, and supportiveness of the bookstagram community.

I’m still kind of stunned at how everyone has welcomed and taken me in. I started my account with only a handful of books with no idea how extraordinarily bookstagram would impact my life.

How long have you been a part of the bookish corner of Instagram? It’s been a little over a year and a half.

Could you describe your Instagram ‘aesthetic’ in only three words? Whimsical. Colorful. Minimalistic. A lot like me actually. Lol, though, I’m also a total weirdo. Not sure how much that come across in my pics.

We know how great bookstagram is, but what is one of your fave things about it? The amazing and inspiring people. Fangirling and nerding out with some of the greatest people on the planet is an insane privilege and nothing I’ll ever take for granted. I’ve met some of my best friends here.

And now, let’s spotlight some of your incredible pics! We found 7 gorgeous props to make our bookstagram photos pop, but what is your favourite prop to use? Ah, the props. Mugs. Pouches. And Funkos. They’ve become quite the merry assortment on my shelves. I have a tendency to get a bit obsessed with certain props and, before I know it, they’re in all my shots. But my favourites are definitely the magical watercolours a friend of mine (@tjlubrano) paints.

Is there one book that’s so beautiful you just can’t help but take a million pictures of it? Mm, that’s a tough one. Penguin and Puffin have some beautiful editions of the classics. And there are so many gorgeous books out there. I’m thinking ‘Passenger‘ and the ‘Shatter Me’ series here.

But, if I get to pick just one, I’ll go with my hardcover copy of ‘All the Bright Places‘. It’s featured in more posts than any other book I own, is gorgeous, jacket on and off, and, content-wise, one of my all-time favourite reads.

Overall, ultimate fave picture you’ve ever taken? A bookworm in her natural habitat: reading bliss with one of the best books I’ve read all year. Surrounded by my books, this is my happy place, where you can find me on a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon. Everything about this pic reminds me of how far I’ve come since that very first post and how much I have to be grateful for.

Thank you Meredith for chatting to us! You can follow her on Insta at meredith.mara.
