And this week it’s the turn of Matt Terry, who is currently the bookie’s favourite to take home the ‘X Factor’ crown this year. Matt is being mentored by Nicole Scherzinger and has consistently wowed the judges (and us!) with his vocal chops throughout the competition. He is definitely a star on the rise.

Hi Matt! Can you tell us about your experience on the show so far?

I just feel like I’ve learned so much! From my first audition to Boot Camp, the Six Chair Challenge,  Judges Houses to the Live Shows I’ve learned so much about me and met so many incredible people.

How does it feel to be the front runner in the competition?

I definitely feel like it’s a lot of pressure, but out of the four who are left anyone could win and it’s so scary, especially when you’re such a big family. You want everyone to do well, but you also want the winning spot as well. It’s difficult.

What made you want to audition in the first place?

It’s kinda something everyone’s been telling me to do all my life, but it never really worked out for me. I think this year it was just good timing. I felt prepared. I just felt like i should go for it this year.

What is one thing you have experienced while being on the show that you didn’t expect?

Jet skiing with Nicole was the highlight of my life. And we went to Winter Wonderland together, which was really cool as well!

Whats your fave performance so far and if you made it to the final which of the songs you’ve performed so far would you like to do again?

I have two favourite performances. I loved Halloween ‘I Put a Spell on You’ and I loved Sam Smith’s ‘Writing’s On the Wall’. If I got to the final I’d love to do ‘Writing’s On the Wall’ again.

That song is such a vocal challenge. Were you scared taking it on?

Yeah it was definitely a challenge. It was a big risk and I’m was very scared, but I’m glad it went OK.

More than OK, we think! Who would you like to duet with in the final?

I’d have to go for either my mentor Nicole or obviously Sam Smith!

If you release an album after the show what would it sound like?

I like the mid-tempo, edgy dark ballads like Sia’s ‘Alive’ or Grace’s ‘You Don’t Own Me’.

How do you feel about all the Louis Tomlinson comparisons?

I haven’t heard it in a while to be honest, but I had so much fun with it. I got to meet him and take a selfie together. It was all fun and games haha.

Which of the ‘X Factor’ contestants who have gone home do you miss the most in the house?

Freddie is like my little brother. I miss him so much. And Relley. She took great care of me.

Who will you be keeping in contact with after the show ends?

What kind of cake would you bake if you were on GBBO?

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate.

Nadiya knows. Thanks for chatting with us Matt! Good luck in the competition.
