Download or Ditch? Mapei ‘Change’ – Will you march to this?

Swedish pop newcomer, Mapei, will raise you up on the shoulders of her anthemic new single ‘Change’.

The inspirational track comes complete with marching band drums and cloudy synths that reflect the grey, frostiness of Stockholm. We like a track that plays with a bit of light and shade, don’t we? Not all feel-good songs have to be served on big, bubbly melodies.

Mapei sings, “Real love is all around, it won’t let you down. You are royalty waiting to be crowned.” (Oh, really. What have you got to say about that, Lorde?)

You might have heard Miss Mapei’s minimalist first single ‘Don’t Wait‘ making its way from ear to ear, earning chin-strokingly good reviews from PitchforkVogue and W Magazine.

You can expect plenty more tunes from her camp this year. Mapei’s debut album ‘Hey Hey’ is out on 22 September and most of it’s tracks are co-written and produced by a guy called Magnus Lidehall, who has worked with Katy Perry, Sky Ferreira and Britney Spears.

What do you think of ‘Change’ – is it love at first sight for you or more of a grower?
