Mahan Moin ‘Aleo’ – Alarm Pop. Euphoric, classy pop tune alert

Alarm Pop, the one-stop spot for some top pop (yes, we’ll stop that now), coming to you today with a Eurovision reject that’s a pop song and a half.

Fresh off the Melodifestivalen competition in Sweden, this little electropop belter by Swedish singer Mahan Moin is a song so good that had it been entered by the Brits, it would have blown everyone away and maybe won us some points for once. We’re not bitter or anything. Really.

It’s euphoric, it’s classy in its Middle-Eastern influences, it has a killer pre-chorus and chorus, and it screams ‘big pop banger’. Why it didn’t make it through the next rounds (Melodifestivalen has rounds and finals and everything, because they take pop music so seriously it’s amazing) is a bit of a mystery. Still, at least we get to check out this enjoyable little gem and pray Ms Moin gives more music this cool and fun. Not bad for a miserable morning, right?
