Last week, One Direction rolled out their newest charitable mission—action/1D. They’re working to get people involved in the United Nations summits in September and December this year, bringing light to issues such as climate change, inequality, and extreme poverty.
“Time and time again, you’ve shown us how incredible, passionate, and creative you all are,” Niall said in their first video. “And now we want to ask you to come together with us and use that to make a change for good.”
The band requested fans send in videos of themselves that fit into different categories: detailing the changes they wish to see in the world, celebrating making a difference, showing where in the world they live, and—the newest option—shots of local water features. The clips have been pouring in as more categories open (another one is due to be revealed tomorrow).
Yesterday as part of action/1D, Louis’s personal video came out. “I want to live in a world where every child can see a doctor when they’re sick,” he said. “Even now lots of children can’t get treatment for basic illnesses.”
Niall and Liam’s personal video is due out 20 July, while Harry’s will be 27 July. (We’re assuming Harry’s won’t be about dolphins, but who knows.)
