What’s the best thing about Friday? No, it’s not the fact that it’s the start of the weekend and no, it’s not that we’re one day closer to another ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ fix.
The best thing about Friday is that there’s a new chart, of course.
But what’s happening on this week’s chart? Allow us to take you through five good things, and five bad things that are happening on the chart right now. The bops and flops, if you will.
?? Drake’s very good ‘One Dance’ is number one for a second week. The song features Kyla, who is the first woman to sit on the top spot since The Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir in December. DECEMBER.
?? The incredible Zara Larsson still has two songs in the Top 10, with ‘Girls Like’ finally entering the Top 5.
?? Justin Bieber still has three songs in the Top 40, with ‘What Do You Mean’ sitting at 38 after 34 weeks. The power of a good bop.
?? Speaking of bops, ‘Hair’ (feat. Sean Paul) as entered the charts at 31. Which is great considering it’s the fourth single from ‘Get Weird’. Plus, ‘Love Me Like You’ debuted at 21.
?? ‘Close’ by Nick Jonas and Tove Lo is getting… ahem… ‘close’ to the Top 40. It’s currently sat at 43.
?? Ariana Grande’s ‘Dangerous Woman’ is only at 24. When will the rest of the UK realise how great this song is?
?? Former ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ contestant Calum Scott is a new entry at 40 with his version of ‘Dancing On My Own’. This might be acceptable if the audition aired last weekend but it was on over a year ago.
?? ‘The Sound of Silence’ by Disturbed is approaching the Top 40. If you’ve not heard it, don’t bother – treat yourself to four minutes and eight seconds of actual silence instead.
?? will.i.am and Pia Mia fall to 53 with ‘Boys & Girls.’ This song is such a jam and deserves so much better.
?? And finally, after 127 weeks on the chart, ‘Mr Brightside’ by The Killers sits at 97. With all the songs available in the world, why would you buy this now?
