Way back in the mists of 2009, a little known singer called Elly Jackson and her musical partner in crime Ben Langmaid – collectively known as La Roux – unexpectedly took over the pop charts with their brand of 80s infused synth pop and excellent, mega selling singles ‘In For The Kill’ and stone cold pop classic ‘Bulletproof’.
Now after taking their sweet time the duo are back with a brand new track and are gearing up to finally release their follow up album ‘Trouble In Paradise’. About bloody time! The new song ‘ Let Me Down Gently’ is a slow burning, synth laden torch anthem with Elly’s anguished vocals declaring “You’re not my life but I want you in it” before a dramatic drop and – you guessed it – some saxophone. We don’t know who in the pop world decided saxophone was here to stay in 2014 but we want to hug them. A lot.
‘Trouble In Paradise’ is out on July 7th and you can download ‘Let Me Down Gently’ right now. Bring some tissues though.
