MP! Reviews: Kylie Jenner lip kit in ‘True Brown K’

We go on about Kylie Jenner‘s lip kits at lot here at MP! Style, but that’s because they’re basically taking over the world and we, for one, are obsessed with them. We’ve experienced the 5 stages of trying to buy a lip kit and finally managed to get our hands on one of the beauties.

The packaging

The packaging is pretty simplistic yet somehow it does the trick. We love the edgy dripping lips logo and it’s a pretty good match to the actual colour of the lipstick. The handwritten note from Kylie also adds a cute personal touch!

Inside each lip kit you get a matte liquid lipstick and a lip liner. This colour, ‘True Brown K’, is a gorgeous chocolate shade and is perfect for achieving that ’90s look.

The lip liner is very velvety and easy to apply. Even if you don’t usually wear lip liner, we found it really helps to define your lips and prevent colour bleeding.

The interesting thing about Kylie’s lip liners is that they’re not push-up, so you can sharpen them yourself to your own liking. kylie-lip-kit-pics-1

As for the lipstick, it’s extremely creamy and smooth to apply. It pretty much glides on and the colour is opaque and pigmented, so you don’t have to worry about it wearing off throughout the day.

As soon as you apply the product, it dries almost instantly. It’s completely smudge-proof so you don’t get those annoying lipstick marks around your cup when drinking – woohoo.

Overall, we think the lip kit is great. We can see why they’ve made such a mark on the beautysphere! However, reviews wouldn’t be helpful if they were purely praise – so here a few important things to note about the product:

  • Drying – as a matte lipstick, the formula is extremely drying and emphasises the wrinkles of your lips. This is probably the biggest turn-off about the lipstick as it doesn’t particularly feel nice wearing it for a while and doesn’t do you any favours if you have cracked lips.
  • Scent – we noticed that the lipstick has a weird scent to it. It’s kind of like a mix between vanilla and banana, if that’s a game-changer for you.
  • Cost – the lip kit is pretty expensive to buy here in the UK. Like, for real. The shipping actually costs more than the product itself. It’d be so much more convenient if it was stocked in a retailer or drug store. Do us a favour, Kylie, yeah?
  • Transfer – the product doesn’t smudge, but it does crumble off a bit after a while which kind of feels like your lips are stuck in a desert in need of water.

Well that’s pretty much it, folks.
