Can you believe ‘Prism’ came out in 2013? It felt like Katy Perry was never going to give us new music but then she gave us ‘Rise’. Our world got so much brighter, the heavens open and the angels (and Katy) sang. Now we just need the new album because we’ve been waiting WAY too long.
2016 should be another year of KP music as she’s really into the traditional way of releasing music every three years. “I do my records in a more traditional way, where the cycle is three years, so that once I start writing them, I know exactly where I’ll be in spring of 2018,” If we go by exact dates, #KP4 (Katy Hudson doesn’t count soz) should drop 13th October, so it’ll hopefully be around then.
Although ‘Rise‘ isn’t going to be part of #KP4, she has registered a bunch of songs that could potentially make up the album, including rumoured Taylor Swift diss track’s ‘Crocodile Tears’ and ‘She’s So Creepy’. Tbh, we kinda wanna hear them.
Not to mention in May 2015, Katy’s manager said this to Billboard during an interview. “Although Katy Perry is still supporting her ‘Prism’ album across the globe, her manager has confirmed that the pop superstar’s fourth full-length is not too far off – as in, it could be here in eight months,” Obviously, it didn’t happen in those eight months but it confirms that something has been in the works!
Katy has mentioned that she is currently recording and writing the new album too, but it seems she’s taking it slow and not rushing anything. “I’m just having a lot of fun, but experimenting and trying different producers, and different collaborators, and different styles. I’m not rushing… I’m confident if I stay vulnerable and authentic with myself, the music that comes out of me will continue to connect.”
Although nothing is concrete confirmed for an album this year, it seems highly likely we’ll be getting a taste of Katy’s new stuff towards the end of the year or early 2017. We can’t wait! It’s probably best to keep up with Katy on Snapchat, she might even drop some new music like Ariana Grande.
