Who is the girl that everyone wants to steal from 1D? Julian Bunetta reveals all.

We’ve had 1D’s latest single ‘Steal My Girl’ on repeat on YouTube and we have two questions we keep asking ourselves- 1. WHY is it not available in the UK yet?! and 2. Who the hell is this girl?

We finally have the answer to number two (still pestering Simon Cowell on Twitter to release the single earlier here but he’s totes ignoring us…) as songwriter Julian Bunetta spills ze beans.

“There are a few meanings behind it … there is the one that speaks to the bigger picture of them and their fans, and there is the one that speaks to the actual person in your life, and that was very intentional,” explained Bunetta to MTV.

“It’s based on everybody’s experience: you have six guys in a room that have all been in love before and we all have jealousy — some are better at hiding it than others, but we don’t like when people hit on our girlfriends.”

Fair enough. Not cool when someone tries to interfere with a relationship, is it? Wait, WHAT? Did he say it’s also about the fans?
“But it was more of a joyous thing, it just speaks to how happy you are with this person. If you have something great, everyone is going to try and take it from you. And that also speaks to the fanbase, I think, ’cause of other groups [trying to steal the 1D fanbase] … there are a lot of layers.”

ASDFGHJKL the feels! We are the girl! Told you we were dating Niall Horan, mum! We are totally not bonkers like you think.

So, how does it feel, Mrs Styles/Horan/Tomlinson/Malik/Payne to have yet another song written about you? We’re off to frolic through a flowery field whilst listening to Steal My Girl over and over and over. C’mon, Simon, get your recored label to release the song sooner! Kthxbai.
