‘Firewalker’ is the blazing sequel to ‘Trial By Fire’ , a story of parallel universes, magic and one girl trying to make sense of it all. The blurb says it’s a “another sexy, fast-paced, heartbreaking thrill ride from internationally bestselling author Josephine Angelini” – and we want to see how many MP!ers out there agree with that.
Miriam got a copy flopped onto her doorstep in exchange for this dazzling honest review.

Have you read any of Josephine Angelini’s books before this? If not, would you consider it now? Before I was sent the Worldwalker books, I hadn’t read any of Josephine Angelini’s other books. However, I do remember a lot of news on MyKindaBook when ‘Trial by Fire’ came out. I never got around to reading the books until now but I’m glad I did! I’ll definitely give her other books a go now! :)
Did this book meet your expectations? I actually think this book exceeded my expectations! In general, I read a lot of contemporary YA (with other books of course!). Therefore, this was quite a big change from what I usually read. I’m so happy I was sent the book because it was brilliant and will make me consider other books in the genre.
Did you find Josephine’s brand of ‘science meets magic’ confusing or clever? As a self-confessed geek, I found the science element of this book really cool! We often get a lot of general fantasy/witchcraft themes which are getting slightly boring (but not J.K. Rowling. J.K. Rowling is QUEEN) but the crucible/science mix was really unique. I don’t think that liking science will affect how much you like the book though. The strange twisted witchcraft mixed with it will get even the least science-y people excited.
Feel free to gush about Rowan. Or rant. Your choice.
ROWAN. Oh my fangirling goodness. When I started the first book, I was slightly excited but in the second
*pterodactyl fangirl noises*
I can imagine him so clearly as Josephine has some of the best character development I have read.
On a scale of 1 to crazed fangirl, how excited are you for the next book? Me? A crazed fangirl? Never! *shifty eyes* hahahaha ha ha…
hmm… Josephine’s writing is such good quality and her plots are simply amazing. One thing that I think she was very skilled at was her endings. The ending of ‘Firewalker’ left me in a severe book-hangover for at least 4 hours! Because of the brilliant ending of ‘Firewalker’, I’m so excited for the next book!
Rate the series out of 10. I think I’ll rate the series 8.5 out of 10 because I really loved reading these books. I think Josephine Angelini has an amazing way with words and I enjoyed reading the series. I’ll definitely be buying the next book when it comes out!
By the way, can I just mention the covers! The new paperback covers are absolutely gorgeous! I actually didn’t realise that the covers went next to each other until I saw Twitter that evening… oops!
