ALARM POP. She’s commanded us to get down on the floor, taught us to dance and love and dance again, and even told us to dance for our papis. But from time to time Jennifer Lopez likes to remind us mere mortals she’s still Jenny from the block. Here’s new single ‘Same Girl’.
Over big instrumental strings, J-Lo leads a R&B-pop song about how she’s still the same girl despite everything she’s gone through and earned, which is standard singing fare. Fortunately, her vocals shine here and it’s nice to here Jennifer Lopez actually sing as she celebrates her New York heritage.
It’s not a groundbreaking song, but Jennifer sounds fantastic, the music itself is pleasant enough (very Nelly Furtado-meets-Mariah Carey) and the video is a fun enough celebration of The Bronx and J-Lo’s turf. Glad to see you back, Ms Lopez. Check out the video for ‘Same Girl’ (which is yet to be given a UK release date) below.
