One of our favourite recent X Factor graduates and a bit of a stud to boot, James Arthur has been keeping things on the quiet since winning the competition last year but has finally put a mass of fans out of their misery today by unveiling his first ‘proper’ single (not that we didn’t love ‘Impossible’, but come on, we want something new) entitled ‘You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You’.
The song is a bit of a fantastic mashup of cool swinging Sixties vibes, a rock vibe grittier than a sea salt scrub from Superdrug and some pulsing dance beats that are sure to make this an alternative pop smash at any modern club. The sound is pretty reminiscent of John Newman’s recent successful tunes and James’ vocals sound absolutely phenomenal in this gospel-esque anthem.
It’s a moody, gorgeously dark and emotional tune that is a beast and a half with those club beats pushed into it. Think Emeli Sande with some guitars and you’re not far off.
