We all know how absolutely adorable new cutie, Jacob Whitesides is. Currently embarking on his UK tour, he is literally our new fave. If you think he couldn’t get any better, he is basically another Taylor Swift when it comes to fan interaction. Like he showed up at a fans BIRTHDAY PARTY, type thing.
We chatted with Sami, or @lmkwhitesides, about her incredible experience with Jacob to celebrate her 16th birthday!
How did you/your parents get Jacob to come?
“I had been bringing the idea up to Jacob for a while, and I know my mom was in contact with him too. After telling him about it a few times I pretty much let go of the idea. It wasn’t until before my party that my mom told me that he was actually coming. I’m not positive how that worked, but what I do know is that he told my mom he’d be coming and we got a sound system so he could perform!”
“When he first showed up, he came for a few minutes to make sure all of the equipment he needed was there and would be all set for later. He came and hugged me, and then we talked a bit. Later, he left and said he was going to get my present. When he came back we spent some time together inside while the party went on, and eventually he performed. He called me up to sing with him. He sang his new song ‘Secrets’, ‘Don’t’ by Ed Sheeran, ‘Billboard’, and ‘Let’s be Birds’. Then, together, we sang parts of ‘Photograph’, ‘Life of the Party’, ‘Little Things’ and ‘Words’.”
What does he mean to you, and how does it feel to have this type of friendship with him?
“He means a lot to me. It’s hard to put into words, but I’ll do my best. I tried to explain it to him in my candle [dedication] for him, too. He’s just really special to me. I fell in love with his music, and then the rest happened gradually. He’s become my happy place, and my comfort zone. He’s my safe haven, and every moment with him is one I’ll remember. I’m grateful for him beyond words. I’m not sure exactly what type of “friendship” we have, but whatever it is I’m thankful for it. He’s a great person, I’m lucky to have him in my life , to see him, hug him as often as I do.”
