If you haven’t heard of Steven Camden yet, you really need to. A spoken word poet from Birmingham, and one of the UK’s best, he started his journey into YA lit last year with ‘Tape’. After that was a big success, he wrote another, ‘It’s About Love’. And we’re obsessed with it.
It’s got movies, and house parties, and games of football with mates who are still mad at you, and big brothers, and beautiful girls with white umbrellas, and old attics to watch movies in – and really everything you want in a book.
Speaking about writing on ABC News Breakfast, Steven said, “It’s about that spark of making stuff up. We put so much pressure on ourselves when we look at a blank piece of paper, and think, “It’s gotta be amazing”, but what I’ve realised is I like to play.”
