Here at MP! we like to bring you the cream of the pop crop from around the world and this time we’ve got a banger all the way from Norway, baby. HRRRNNK. ALARM POP.
You may not know Ina Wroldsen by name, but you’ll definitely know her songs. The singer songwriter has penned hits for a whole host of stars like The Saturdays, Cover Drive, James Arthur, Britney Spears, Cher Lloyd, Shakira… The list goes on. Now she’s finally stepping out from behind the scenes with ‘Aliens’ (Her Er Jeg) and we can categorically state that it is an absolute corker of a debut single.
The brassy pop anthem is filled with scuzzy beats, bleepy synths and tongue in cheek references to fellow female songstresses like Adele, Rihanna and Madonna. Sonically and lyrically it shares a lot in common with Lily Allen’s ‘Air Balloon’ with its soaring, dream like chorus about escaping the ordinary with someone special. To be honest it’s all a bit bonkers as well but it’s also one of the most pop-tastic tracks of the year and gets catchier than a cold with every listen. We reckon it’s Ina’s time to shine now!
