Move over high heels, everyone knows that a pair of Crocs is the #1 footwear choice for prom. Well, at least these 500 students at a Minnesota high school do.
Yep, a group of teens really did rock up to prom wearing plastic clogs on their feet and we love the reason behind it. (And no, it’s not just because they look super cool.)
Cornelia Lutz, a senior at Minneapolis South High School, is behind the awesome idea after telling her friend she wanted to wear Crocs to prom in order to be comfortable dancing (we feel you, girl), resulting in a Facebook page created to promote the cause.
What started off as a joke quickly became viral and, we have to say, one of the most iconic moments of the year.
What are THESE?!!! At South, social media & power of the press (@shsoutherner) result in 500 pairs of crocs for prom! See tomorrow's StarTribune (thanks Tim Harlow) 5/14 Sat. for the story!
When the people at Crocs caught on to what was happening, they only went and shipped 500 pairs in a range of colours and sizes to the school for the occasion. That’s a LOT of plastic shoes.
While some students called the entire thing ‘tacky’, we say forget social norms and take the comfy Crocs any day. ‘Cause if that isn’t total prom (and life) goals, we don’t know what is.
Do you reckon the crocs-at-prom trend will catch on? Fashwuuun, baby. Let us know your thoughts @maximumpop and vote below:
