Here’s how to create your very own rainbow highlighter

When this Etsy shop’s rainbow highlighter went positively viral last week, the poor shop owner was so overwhelmed by demand that stock ran out almost immediately.

Tragic. However, if you’re just dying to get your hands and face on a rainbow highlighter of your very own, you don’t have to wait. You can make one yourself.

You’ve probably heard of the hack where you use rubbing alcohol to mend a shattered eyeshadow or blush, right? Well, by utilizing that exact method, you can easily create a rainbow highlighter.

All you need is:

Claire’s 66 Piece Eyeshadow Palette – £5
  • Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple eyeshadow with shimmer (we recommend a cheap rainbow palette)
  • Something sharp to dig the eyeshadows of their pan
  • A muffin tin
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • An empty bronzer or highlighter pan (or just something big enough to hold your rainbow creation—a lid can work fabulously)

Dig out the shadows one-by-one, transferring them into separate sections of your muffin pans. Add rubbing alcohol until they form a thick paste-like consistency. Transfer the colors one-by-one in rainbow order into your empty pan. Press them into formation with a paper towel, and let them dry for at least 24 hours. That’s it!
