We teamed up with Vicky’s Donuts to create our own purrfect cat donuts. Now you can make them too

Do you know what’s better than donuts? Donuts that look like cats, that’s what.

Yep, cat donuts are a real thing, and we’re about to tell you how to make them. If you’re thinking that this is going to be really difficult right now, we don’t blame you (because we are NO Mary Berry). But trust us when we say this  –  they’re actually REALLY  easy to make.

To celebrate the release of the film ‘Nine Lives’, we teamed up with Vicky’s Donuts to create our own edible version of the film’s cheeky cat – Mr. Fuzzypants.

This is what we were trying to recreate:

Pretty cute, right? So, here’s how we did it…

1. Ears

To start, we took a plain ring donut.

We then made two piercings at the top, and stuck an almond in each. And there you have it – a pair of ears.

2. Fur

Next it was time to give our cats some fur. To do this, we put our donut face down in a bowl of grey icing, ensuring it was fully covered. We used cocktail sticks to scrape any excess icing off the sides.

While the grey was still wet, we put some white icing onto the bottom of the donut to create a furry stomach patch, and blended it in with the bottom of a spoon.

3. Detailing

After allowing the icing to dry, we used piping bags to add eyes, whiskers, ear whites and a little blue tie (because cats look awesome in ties).

We even made our own MP! donut…

And that’s it! We told you it was simple, didn’t we? Make these for your friends, and they’ll think you’re an artistic genius (nobody needs to know quite how easy they really are).

If you give these a go, tweet us your pictures @maximumpop – we’re dying to see your attempts!

‘Nine Lives’ is out in cinemas on August 17th.
