For those of you who are too young to know (we feel very old right now), Hilary Duff is a ruddy amazing popstar. Hilary is the original Disney girl, rising to fame on Lizzie McGuire before Miley, Selena and Demi had even joined the network, let alone become the superstars they are today.
Since Lizzie McGuire finished in 2004, Hilary has starred in some of the best of the worst chick flicks ever and released three amazing pop albums spawning singles such as ‘So Yesterday’ and ‘Wake Up’ (YouTube them, they’re amazing).
Queen Disney I now returns from her hiatus with her fourth studio album ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out.’, her first musical release in over eight years. But is it what dreams are made of? We put it to the test and fill you in on 5 Things you need to know about the return of Hilary Duff.
‘Sparks’ is the first teaser of ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out.’ that we received and it’s an absolute corker of a tune. After listening to the rest of the album we can say that it definitely does reflect the sound of the record. The video’s blooming great too.
Aside from ‘Sparks’, #H4 has some other brilliant highlights. Album tracks ‘My Kind’, ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out.’, ‘Lies’, ‘Stay in Love’, ‘Brave Heart’, ‘Belong’, and ‘Rebel Hearts’ are all pieces of pop perfection too.
We obvs have nothing against Hilary Duff, she is our childhood vixen, but we would have to say that ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out.’ could be a bit more of an all-killer-no-filler release if tracks like ‘One in a Million’, ‘Arms Around a Memory’ and ‘Night Like This’ were left on the cutting room floor.
Just like every great pop album, there is a deluxe edition of ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out’ which includes ‘Chasing the Sun’ and ‘All About You’, both of which were promotional singles that didn’t make the final cut.
Now, we’re not exactly expecting ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out.’ to set the charts alight over here – Hilary’s highest charting album peaked at #25 in the UK – but for people like us and you who appreciate great pop music then this is the perfect album to get listening to this summer. Grab a few of your mates, get a few lemonades in and listen to Hilary Duff on the beach. Make sure you check out her old stuff too because ‘Why Not’ is our mother freakin’ jam.
‘Breathe In. Breathe Out.’ is released in the UK on June 22.
