Get to know your new favourite band, Hey Violet with these facts!

When a new band is on the horizon, there’s two things you do; listen to their music non stop and scour the internet for facts about the members. So, put ‘This is Why’ on repeat and get ready to be educated with the basic facts of newly signed band, Hey Violet!

The band consists of four members- Nia, Casey, Miranda and Rena. Here are quick fact files on each member.

Rena Lovelis – Bass & Vocals
Name: Pyrena Lucrezia Morze Enea
Born: April 6, 1998
Relationship: Single

Nia Lovelis – Drums & Vocals
Name: Szatania Angelika Morze Enea
DOB: January 1, 1997
Relationship: Taken (Brennan Benko from False Puppet since November 2012) UPDATE: Nia and Brennan have since broken up and it is rumoured she is dating 5SOS’ own Calum, though this is not confirmed by Nia or Calum.

Miranda Miller – Guitar & Vocals
Name: Miranda Diane Miller
DOB: November 22, 1995
Relationship: Single

Casey Moreta – Guitar & Vocals
Name: Casey Moreta
DOB: October 27, 1995
Relationship: Single

Facts you need to know:

  • Hey Violet are a four piece band from Los Angeles, California.
  • Rena & Nia are in fact sisters.
  • Nia’s inspirations as a drummer include John Bonham, Cindy Blackman, Josh Freese, and Sheila E.
  • The band have opened for a numerous amount of big names in the rock genre including Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins and Steel Panther.
  • Rena and Nia work for the network, headed by P. Diddy.
  • The band have worked with John Feldmann AKA Feldy who work with 5SOS.
  • Casey collects vinyl records.
  • Miranda loves Doctor Who.

Rena and Nia

The band was originally all female and was called ‘Cherri Bomb’ which was founded by Julia Pierce, former member and lead guitarist/vocalist. Fast forward to 2013, Julia had parted ways with the band. Casey joined the band as a temp until March 2013, he was announced as a permanent member. Whoo!

It was announced at the beginning of 2015 that the band had now changed their name to ‘Hey Violet’ and in March they released the music video for their new song ‘This is Why’. On the glorious day of 24th March 2015, 5 Seconds of Summer’s new record label, Hi or Hey Records, made the announcement that Hey Violet were the first band that 5SOS signed under the record label.
