Adele, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown – Grammy Awards 2012 performances: the good, the bad and the Roman

The Grammy Awards – an influential event designed to celebrate and showcase some of America’s finest musical artists, or an excuse for everyone to try and outdo each other with outrageous costumes, wacky props and controversial performances (or in Gaga’s case, some serious attention seeking)? We’ll let you lot be the judge of that.

Couldn’t bring yourself to stay awake into the early hours of the morning yesterday to watch the entire show? As usual, we’ve done all the hard work for you. Keep reading to see performances from the likes of Adele, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Coldplay at this year’s Grammy Awards – the good, the bad… And the Roman!

The Good:

The one and only Adele makes her return to live performances after a recent health scare – and what can we say? Perfect as always.

Katy Perry debuts today’s song of the day, new single ‘Part Of Me’ alongside her futuristic smash ‘E.T.’. Flashing green lights, roaring orange fire and dodgy blue hair.

Teaming up with Coldplay for their duet ‘Princess Of China’, Rihanna also shows off her dancing skills during solo song ‘We Found Love’ – and she’s not half bad!

Jennifer Hudson pays tribute to the late Whitney Houston. Tissues at the ready for this one.

The Bad:

Sometimes we wonder why Bruno Mars is still going. There’s nothing actually technically wrong with this performance, but is nobody else bored of seeing him do the same old thing yet?

A lot of people didn’t like Chris Brown’s Grammy comeback for very different reasons – but whichever way you look at it, dancing averagely on a pile of flashing boxes is hardly mind blowing stuff.

The Roman:

Featuring bizarre accents, deranged dancers, levitation and even an appearance from the Pope, Nicki Minaj’s debut of new song ‘Roman Holiday’ was either horrifically awful or hilariously brilliant. We can’t quite make our minds up.
