Girls Aloud’s Ten Tour DVD – 5 Things You Need To Know

Nearly eight months after their split was confirmed, Girls Aloud have released their last ever tour onto DVD. ‘Ten: The Hits Tour’ played a rather impressive 20 dates in arenas up and down the country, bidding farewell to their fans and those pop tunes that don’t leave your head for days.

As the UK finds a new favourite girlband in Little Mix, the almighty Aloud have given us one last reminder of why they really were the “leaders of the pack”. Here’s 5 things about Girls Aloud’s final offering that you need to know.

1The introduction to the tour shows clips from the girls’ decade long careers. Over which Sarah Harding explains: “We wanna come back with a bang!”, while Cheryl Cole adds: “We wanted everything to just be… Wow!” before the band kick off their set with debut single ‘Sound Of The Underground’. It’s still a tune, isn’t it?

2The tour brings back some forgotten gems! The girls take to the staircase to have a sit down and perform 2003’s ‘Life Got Cold’, later also performing 2006’s ‘Whole Lotta History’ and 2008’s ‘Can’t Speak French’ on the catwalk. Remember those?!

3Acting like they’ve just stepped out of a Victoria’s Secret catwalk show, Girls Aloud wear some mahoosive feather wings and headdresses to blow kisses to their fans before performing a showgirl inspired version of hit single ‘The Show’. Be warned – it may be the campest thing you’ll ever come across.

Their ‘Call Me Maybe’ cover has been cut *sadface*. The girls treated their fans to a cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s smash hit ‘Call Me Maybe’ on their final tour but unfortunately, for some reason, the cover hasn’t made the final cut of the DVD.

5The encore is rather emosh. For the show’s finale, the artists formerly known as Girls Aloud perform a very emotional rendition of ‘I’ll Stand By You’, with a montage of the girls over the past ten years flashing up behind them, before closing the show with #1 hit ‘The Promise’.
