Giorgio Moroder is the Pop God that you’ve probably never heard of. Becoming prominent in the 1970s for his absolutely brilliant disco-synthpop-electronic-italo disco-rock tracks. After a whopping thirty year break from the charts, Mr. Moroder is gearing up to release his thirteenth(!?) studio album at the end of the month and to rev up excitement for the new LP, he’s remixed Scottish band Prides’ latest single ‘Messiah’.
Yes, it is a bit random, isn’t it? But it’s ruddy good too.
Vocalist and spokesperson for the band says of the new take on the track: “It’s one of our favourite remixes. We can definitely imagine throwing ourselves around a club, the first drop, the riff, it’s pure magic. We’re massively honoured to have the genius of synth wizard Giorgio Moroder remix one of our tracks, and what a belter. Smashed it.”
‘Smashed it’ indeed.
Although this shamazing new remix of ‘Messiah’ doesn’t feature on Giorgio’s album ‘Deja Vu’, it does feature collaborations with Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko, Foxes, Kelis, Sia and actual Queens of Pop Kylie Minogue and Britney bloomin’ Spears.
Prides release ‘Messiah’ on July 6. Their album ‘The Way Back Up’ is released July 10.
Giorgio Moroder’s ‘Deja Vu’ is released in the UK on June 15.
