Our worlds have been practically turned upside down by the news that Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc will be backing down as presenters now that ‘GBBO’ is set to move from the BBC to Channel 4. Only made worse by the fact Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood are also expected to depart after this series.
Honestly, not even a Mary and Paul approved Victoria Sponge can get us through this colossal heartache. Apart from, well… maybe this guy as Mary’s younger, more male replacement.
Honestly, don’t tell us you wouldn’t be elbowing your way to be a contestant on ‘Bake Off’ if Harry Styles was the one judging your french pastries. We’d be pinching his bum too.
Alas, Harry does not come in a neat duo — he actually has three other boys tagged along with him that we’d have to take into consideration. And, tbh, we’d need a lot of convincing before we considered One Direction as anything less than a disaster on ‘GBBO’. Lbr, Niall would just eat everything.
And so we’re back to the drawing board on who should take over as the key team members of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
YouTuber Benjamin Cook has helped out a little with brainstorming some contenders, namely including his video-making friends.
Out of the options, we also reckon we’d love to see Dan and Phil take to the ‘Bake Off’ tent. The pair can commentate very naturally with one another — probs ’cause they’re housemates — and so we reckon will offer some hilarious, borderline too explicit innuendos.
So with Dan and Phil decided as our co-hosts, we now need two people to be hella judgey about all the epic creations our ‘Bake Off’ contestants whip up. And, to even the playing field, we reckon we need some boss lady folk.
Who better than someone who has been put through the Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood paces? Zoella!
She’s proven she’s a culinary wizard in all her baking videos, and although she may not have won the Comic Relief ‘Great British Bake Off’, we still think she knows what’s good and what clearly hasn’t risen to the challenge.
And who will be her partner in crime? Well, isn’t it obvious? She has a flippin’ baking book, for goodness sake.
Yes, Tanya Burr! Gurl can bake and her and Zoella are besties, so they’d for sure be the perfect fit for our ‘GBBO’ judges. Right?!
What do you think of our ‘Great British Bake Off’ replacements? As sad as we are about all this change, we do think we’ve figured out a great alternative.
