Fleur East is no puppet: Simon Cowell told her to speak up and she’s giving us all kinds of girl power #goals

If you think Fleur East is going to put up with any kind of sh*t, you’ve got another thing coming.

So Fleur East is currently killing it in the US with her debut single ‘Sax’, so much so that there’s even a shiny new video filmed while she was in New York recently, appropriately titled ‘Sax in the City’

While on her journey to world domination, Fleur stopped in with Billboard’s ‘Pop Shop Podcast’ to talk about her influences, writing her own music and what advice Simon Cowell has given to her.

“A big thing he said to me was, ‘Make sure you never become a puppet. Make sure you speak up and your voice is heard’. That’s always been encouraging. Every step of the way I’ve made sure I’m not shy, and that I’m not backwards about coming forward.”

Fleur also revealed that Simon has helped her find her voice and that she’s thoroughly involved in every aspect of her career, including the writing of her songs. In fact, she’s co-written the majority of the album.

And if you’re hankering for new music from Fleur, you’re in luck as she also confirmed that she’s working on all new music as she prepares to release her album in the US.
