MP!er Laura reviews the ‘wonderous’ Fire Colour One by Jenny Valentine.

Fire and precious artworks don’t often go well together, but Jenny Valentine weaves them together perfectly in her story of love, loss and mystery.

MP!er Laura received a copy of ‘Fire Colour One’ through our You Review, and here’s what she had to say about it.

LauraName: Laura

Age: 26

Describe ‘Fire Colour One’ in one word: Wonderous

Have you read any of Jenny Valentine’s books before? If not, does this book make you want to read others? Sorry to say I haven’t but will definitely be picking up another one of her books.

What do you think of the cover? Brilliant. It really stands out and has that wow factor to it.

Fire Colour OneCan you pick a favourite character, and why? Ernest, purely because of what happens at the end.

What did you think of all the art references? I really liked them. It taught me quite a bit about art actually and I of course googled the Yves Klein’s FC1 painting.

Can you think of a favourite bit? The ending definitely, cried a great big yes. One the best endings I have read!

How about a least favourite? What happened to Iris (won’t give it away) mad me so mad, especially with her uncaring Mum and stepdad.

Would you recommend ‘Fire Colour One’ to friends? YES!

US or UK? UK (US is still good though obvs :))

Thurston or Ernest? Ernest

Was the plot straight-forward or twisty? Twisty

Was the ending expected or surprising? Surprising
