‘Finding Audrey’: author Sophie Kinsella talks to Glamour magazine about her new YA novel

If you haven’t heard of ‘Finding Audrey’ by now, you really need to. Sophie Kinsella, the bestselling author of the Shopaholic series, has tried her hand at the Young Adult market, and we’re wondering why she didn’t do it sooner.

‘Finding Audrey’ is about a young girl with anxiety just trying to get back on her feet again, even if that’s as simple as a visit to her local Starbucks.

“An anxiety disorder disrupts fourteen-year-old Audrey’s daily life. She has been making slow but steady progress with Dr. Sarah, but when Audrey meets Linus, her brother’s gaming teammate, she is energized. She connects with him. Audrey can talk through her fears with Linus in a way she’s never been able to do with anyone before. As their friendship deepens and her recovery gains momentum, a sweet romantic connection develops, one that helps not just Audrey but also her entire family.”

Recently, Sophie Kinsella spoke to Glamour magazine about all things Audrey, including our heroine’s chaotic family and her brother’s gaming team mate, Linus – who just so happens to have the most wonderful orange segment mouth.

Sophie touches on her natural sense of humour, saying she “can’t help writing comedy” and how she will always try to see the funny side in “human foibles”, which comes across strongly in this witty, laugh-out-loud book.
