What do Little Mix, 5SOS and Simon Cowell have to do with the new Fifth Harmony album?

The new album from Fifth Harmony is now officially less than one month away! We feel like we’ve been waiting forever, but finally the big day is nearly upon us. To keep ourselves busy while we wait, we scoured the internet to find out everything we could about the new release, and we even discovered surprising connections to some of our other favourite bands. Here’s what we know so far…

The anticipation for Fifth Harmony’s second album began on 25th February, when the girls revealed the cover and title. ‘7/27’ is named after the day they came together as a group on ‘The X Factor’ – 27th July, 2012.

The lead single ‘Work From Home’ was released the next day, and has since become their highest charting single in the UK and US. Yep, we’re feeling pretty proud right now. The girls are absolutely smashing it in 2016.

The album was originally due for release on 20th May, but was recently pushed back a week. Many people thought this was a plot to avoid competing with pop princess Ariana Grande and country star Blake Shelton in the US Billboard chart, but the girls said actually they just wanted to release it on the 27th ’cause that number is really special to them. We’re sad that we have to wait an extra week, but if it means 5H have a better chance at a well-deserved number one, it’ll be totally worth it. Give it to them, they’re worth it!

This week the ‘7/27’ tracklisting was announced on Instagram, only making us even more impatient to hear the new tunes. We’re already obsessed and we haven’t even heard these songs yet. We just know they’re going to be instant classics.

You’ll already know ‘The Life,’ as this summery pop banger was released as a promotional single in March. ‘The Life’ was co-written by Alexander Kronlund, famous for his work with Britney Spears, who some of the girls recently saw in concert in Las Vegas. Another co-writer on the track is R&B singer Tinashe, who also worked on the album’s opening song, ‘That’s My Girl.’

There’s a new Fifth Harmony album on the way. Yep, this is the life!

If you’re both a Harmonizer and a member of the 5SOS Fam, you’ll be excited to hear ‘I Lied,’ as the track was produced by The Monsterz and the Strangerz, whose credits include 5SOS‘s epic 2015 anthem ‘Hey Everybody.’ There’s also a Little Mix connection, as ‘Not That Kinda Girl’ features legendary female rapper Missy Elliot, who also appeared on ‘How Ya Doin’?’ by the British ‘X Factor’ winners.

‘7/27’ will be released jointly by two labels, both of which are part of the Sony Music group. That’s Simon Cowell’s label Syco, which takes a cut of the profits from all the ‘X Factor’ acts who sign to Sony, and Epic, the label run by ‘X Factor’ US judge LA Reid, which oversees the music and marketing of the band.

Not only does a new album mean new music, but we also get to see Fifth Harmony on tour. The ‘7/27’ tour starts in June with eight dates in South America. The rest is yet to be announced, but we’re sure we’ll be hearing news on this soon. Best get saving your money for a front row seat!
