It’s the first day of summer! And what better way to celebrate than to plan what festivals you need to be attending this year? We’ve got a list of amazing music events you absolutely need to RSVP attending to if you want summer 2016 to be one you’ll never forget.
1. V Festival
When: 20th-21st August
Where: Hylands Park, Chelmsford / Weston Park, Staffordshire
Celebrating its 21st birthday, V Festival is back and better than ever. With big names such as Justin Bieber, Sia, Rihanna, Little Mix, Rita Ora, Troye Sivan and Halsey, this birthday party is going to be the talk of the year.
When: 8th-10th July
Where: Finsbury Park, London
This three-day festival is jam packed with acts, including Calvin Harris, The 1975, Dua Lipa, Chase & Status, J. Cole, Craig David’s TS5, Jess Glynne, Martin Garrix and Kygo, and is sure to be a pretty lit weekend with non-stop quality entertainment.
3. Fusion Festival
When: 3rd-4th September
Where: Otterspool Promenade, Liverpool
What better way to finish off the summer than with the likes of Jason Derulo, Olly Murs, Tinie Tempah, Busted, Labrinth, The Vamps and Nathan Sykes? This send-off to the season is full of amazing artists and just screams a good time.
4. Sundown Festival
When: 2nd-4th September
Where: Norfolk Showground, Norwich
Another fantastic weekend including a full lineup with the likes of Jason Derulo, Fleur East, Jess Glynne, Dizzee Rascal and Years & Years. With over three stages to choose from AND an opening party, this is one festival not to be missed.
5. British Summer Time
When: 1st-10th July
Where: Hyde Park, London
This whopping 10-day festival kicks off the month of July with amazing atmosphere and names from across the entire music land, including Massive Attack, Florence + The Machine, Kendrick Lamar, Mumford & Sons, Take That, Olly Murs, Ella Eyre, Nathan Sykes and Stevie Wonder *inhales*, you absolutely need to attend at least one of the dates. It’s guaranteed you’ll have the time of your life!
6. Brownstock Festival
When: 8th-10th July
Where: Morris Farm, Essex
A less talked-about festival but still worth going to is Brownstock Festival. The three-day weekend festival is loaded with lots of acts including Mark Ronson, Tinie Tempah, Kelis, Katy B, Izzy Bizu, Annie Mac and Scouting For Girls. Definitely the place to be for a good time.
7. Kendal Calling
When: 28th-31st July
Where: Lowther Deer Park, Lake District
Fancy partying by the lake with a gorgeous view? That’s basically everything that Kendal Calling is about. This year’s acts include Rudimental, Madness, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Kelis and Craig David and it’s the perfect family festival and weekend getaway.
