Ellie Goulding’s album ‘Halcyon’ gets number 1… after 65 weeks!

Congratulations are in order for Ellie Goulding who is now the proud owner of a second UK number one album. Ellie’s ‘Halcyon’ has finally reached the top spot – a whopping 65 weeks after it was first released!

Originally released in October 2012 the album spawned the massive singles ‘Anything Could Happen’, ‘Figure 8’, and ‘Explosions’ and was re-packaged in August with the inclusion of the amazing sob-along single ‘How Long Will I Love You’, which was also the official Children In Need single, and Ellie’s first ever UK number one single ‘Burn’. The album has now sold nearly 665,000 copies in the UK.

The UK top 5 albums chart also features two releases from Take That members with Gary Barlow’s ‘Since I Saw You Last’ and Robbie Williams’ ‘Swings Both Ways’ charting at numbers 2 and 4 respectively. Beyonce’s self-titled album has also climbed this week, giving Bey a new peak of number 3.

Well done Ellie, what a great start to 2014!
