Alarm Pop: Ed Sheeran – ‘Sing’. Ed returns with funky Pharrell-produced new single!

Ed Sheeran is back! After waiting about half a century for some new material while he was off gallivanting with the likes of Taylor Swift, Mr. Sheeran has rewarded our patience with one of his best songs to date called ‘Sing’. HRRNNK. ALARM POP.

‘Sing’ is the first single to be taken from Ed’s upcoming album ‘X’ and takes him in a completely different musical direction, employing a funky beat and channelling his inner lothario to great effect. There is also some amazing ‘WOOOAAAH’ bits and even a Rihanna ‘We Found Love’ reference! The fact that the song is produced by the inescapable man of the moment Pharrell Williams should surprise nobody. It also sounds like an early Justin Timberlake single, with the acoustic guitars taking a bit of inspiration from ‘Like I Love You’, which was ALSO produced by Pharrell. We think we’re beginning to see a pattern here…

However don’t go thinking it’s just a another Timberlake knock-off because it most definitely is not. Ed’s voice is more soulful than ever and he sounds very much at home with this new sound which has only made us more excited to hear the rest of the album!
