Pop is full of amazing collaborations these days but what about the ones that never see the light of day? The mind boggle at the possibilities.
Well, Labrinth has just broken hearts the world over by revealing details about a failed duet with none other than Ed Sheeran! Talking about the recording of his upcoming album, the singer and producer spilled the beans on what happened when he and Ed hit the studio earlier this year, saying;
“Ed and I got in the studio for two days, but it didn’t work out. I don’t think it’s worth putting out something that I don’t 100-per-cent believe in.”
Boo! Commenting on his label’s reaction to the decision, he went on to say;
“The label are a little bit aggrieved. But they know that this album has to be a Labrinth album first; that people have to hear me as an artist.”
But the ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’ singer hasn’t ruled out further team ups in the future, saying;
“The collaborations are gonna come. After this album I want to work with a lot of people. But I stand by the idea that it’s a cop-out when people put ‘features’ on their album ’cause it makes it sound exciting. Of course Ed’s got 10 million Twitter followers; lucratively and commercially anyone would say I’m stupid for not using the track. Maybe Ed would say I was insane! But if I’m saying ‘Take Me to the Truth’, then don’t lie.”
Well, we can’t say we’re not deeply disappointed at this news, but we admire Lab’s insistence on sticking to his guns on this one. However, if some enterprising individual were to leak said track we definitely wouldn’t have a problem with that…
