Ed Sheeran defends his new lion tattoo. Haters gonna hate.

Ed Sheeran added some new ink to his collection this week. He shared an Instagram picture of his chest, labeled, “Halfway and ouch,” with a fresh lion head partially tattooed there.

Keane’s frontman Tom Chaplin then felt the need to tweet his two cents about the tattoo.

Rude much? Pretty sure Ed knows tattoos are forever. Well, Ed’s fans immediately sprang to his defense, prompting Tom to claim that if you post a picture of your tattoo, you’re inviting opinions. Ed himself sent back a calm and rational response.

Trying to save face, Tom sent Ed an apologetic tweet, sprinkled with a few self-compliments after celebrity tattoo artist Kevin Paul who did the lion piece insulted his musical relevance.

Oh, Tom. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Especially not to a musical genius with nearly 15 million followers.
