It seems there’s still a healthy appetite for albums in the UK these days, as the good peeps at The Official Charts company will attest.
They’ve just revealed the Top 10 best selling albums of 2014 so far, and our beloved Ed Sheeran has just overtaken Coldplay to score the coveted top spot. Ed’s latest LP ‘X’ has already gone 2 x platinum since its release in June – that’s a staggering 600,000 copies in just four months!
Commenting on his mega success, Ed said;
“I’m so happy people have been enjoying my album so much – great to hear that it’s still the biggest seller of the year and has now gone double Platinum too. Looking forward to playing it live to my UK fans when the tour starts next week!”
Not only that, but it’s an (almost) all British Top 10 with 9 of the 10 artists hailing from good ol’ Blighty, leaving only Pharrell to wave the flag for the US. They join the likes of Paloma Faith, Arctic Monkeys and Sam Smith to name but a few. Well done, Ed!
