Evanesco! This DIY Harry Potter calm down jar will make school stress a thing of the past

You’ll never be stressed again!

Ugh, school stress is the worst! Anyone who says that teenagers don’t suffer from it has NEVER had to navigate their way through mountains of coursework and looming exam deadlines.

Thankfully, we’ve come up with a fun little DIY that will crush stress, though. It also involves one of our fave fandoms, which makes it even cooler.

So what’s this DIY, then? Well, it’s called a calm down jar and it’s a magical piece of decor that’ll help clear your mind. Pretty fancy, right?

As full blown Potterheads, obviously we decided to make ours Hogwarts themed. Not only will it evanesco away any worries you might have about school or college, but it will also make your room look 36279% more magical as it involves heaps and heaps of glitter.

So, get your wands out, witches and wizards. Here’s how you can make one…

Here’s how you can make your very own Harry Potter nail varnish (it’s so much better than the Muggle-kind)

What you’ll need

  • A plastic or glass jar (any kind will do – just make sure it has a screw on lid)
  • Warm water
  • Glitter glue
  • Food colouring
  • Glitter
  • Hogwarts logo

We first filled up half a jar with warm water. You can either boil the water over a hob or use a kettle.

Next, we poured in a few drops of red food colouring. As you’ve probs guessed, we decided to opt for the Gryffindor house colours for this DIY.

We then squeezed in some gold glitter glue and added some loose glitter pigment.

We also added in some red glitter. After all, you can never have too much!

Once we finished adding the glitter, we gave the mixture a quick stir. Ugh, it’s sooo calming.

We then filled the rest of the jar up with more warm water.

After that, we screwed on the lid and began to decorate it.

And, voila! It’s done! Told you it was easy. You now have your very own calm down jar that’ll help reduce stress. To use it, simply place it in a calming place in your room and give it a quick shake.

Just look at all the pretty patterns!
