Diva demands, single life and working with Pharrell – 5 things we learned from Conor Maynard’s Metro interview

Brighton’s rising star is determined to make a name for himself, and so in his interview with the Metro, Conor Maynard once again quashes claims that he’s Britain’s answer to Justin Bieber – but being his biggest fans already, we all already knew that. So what else did we learn? Keep reading to find out more about his musical style, whether or not his mates would let him become a diva and if there’s room for a lucky lady in his life…

1MUSIC. As we’ve already heard from ‘Can’t Say No’, Conor has gone for an urban route – but he assures everyone there are some “British inputs” as well. And the list of producers is looking nice already: “Saying ‘I’ve worked with Pharrell’ is just insane.”

2DIVA. Are 5 star hotels and private jets amongst his outlandish demands? Not likely. The teen idol is definitely going to be keeping his feet on the ground thanks to his close friends. “They are not going to take it from me if I turn into a diva. They’ll be like ‘You’re just Conor’.”

3GIRLFRIEND. He’s got the swag (kind of) but has he got a girl on his arm? Put your tissues down – he’s single. “For me, living that single life is the easiest thing to do, especially when you have to put all your time into music if you are going to have a chance of making it.”

HARD WORK. Did you know that our future chart topping star got to where he is by working hard by himself on YouTube? “I had to pick what covers I did and recorded it myself in my room and make the videos myself. I feel like I got here with not much help.” We sense a Never Say Never-style film will probably be in the works one day…

5HOLIDAY. Poor Conor hadn’t ever left the UK until very recently! “Before last year I had never been abroad. I didn’t even go abroad when I was younger – my family had caravan holidays.” Just one of the perks of being a pop star then…
