Self-proclaimed “dull” pop star Conor Maynard is taking time out from his busy schedule of Nando’s, chasing girls, Nando’s, uploading YouTube covers and more Nando’s to work on his highly anticipated debut album – and although it’s very early days, we’ve already managed to uncover 5 nuggets of info about the CD that you *need* to know. So keep reading for the release date, list of producers helping create the songs and who’s inspired the record.
Lead single? We’ve got this one in the bag – everyone already knows it’s called ‘Can’t Say No’, it’s blimmin’ fantastic and the music video looks like this. Sorted. (Oh and it’s released here on April 15th).
If you’re gonna be the next big thing, you need to make sure you’ve got the big names working on your debut alongside you. Conor’s impressive list of producers includes Kevin Rudolf, Sandy Vee, Jermaine Dupri AND Dianne Warren. Now there’s a phone book we’re jealous of.
Put a big red circle around June, July and August on your calendars and start saving up pennies – the album is expected to be released at some point this “summer”. Nice and vague to keep us all excited.
Obviously steering well clear of the type of music that other YouTube-stars-turned-pop-stars have released before, we’d imagine that Conor’s debut album will sound a lot like ‘Can’t Say No’ – lots of urban pop and R&B. The singer himself previously told us that Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Drake are all inspirations.
Will there be another slightly scary duet with fellow YouTube star “Lily Violet Springall” like this one? Probably not, but we can dream, right?
Stay tuned to Maximum Pop! because as soon as we know more about Conor’s debut album, you’ll be the first to know.
