Alarm Pop: Cody Simpson- ‘La Da Dee’

Welcome to another Alarm Pop, where we enforce the belief that a good pop song is as essential as five portions of fruit and veg a day!

Today’s track comes from ex-Bieber support and serial beach crooner, Cody Simpson. We quite enjoyed Cody’s latest album ‘Surfer’s Paradise‘, that this Alarm Pop has been lifted from. The song? It’s ‘La Da Dee’ and has been chosen to be added to the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 soundtrack (not exactly The Mortal Instruments, but it’s still an achievement).

The song is a blend of Owl City and Jason Mraz (as a lot of Cody’s song are) and has the undeniable summer-surf-pop sound that Cody has made his own.

Upon first listen, ‘La Da Dee’ doesn’t stand out but we’ve given it another three listens and, with it’s catchy nonsensical chorus and easy breezy beats, it’s safe to say we wouldn’t want anything else soundtracking a float across the pool in an inflatable donut.
