Book recommendations for some of our favourite fictional characters!

We’ve all been there. The depth of fandom and book love where your beloved characters become real people in your head and you start to invent their back story and daily life outside of the novel. It happens.

As proud bookworms, we’re often wondering what YA our favourite fictional characters would be reading. So we’ve got a few suggestions for them.

Luna Lovegood (‘Harry Potter’)

Luna - Raven Boys

It’s got to be something a bit unusual for Luna, she does read ‘The Quibbler’ after all! We think she’d go gaga over ‘The Raven Cycle’. Ley lines, Cabeswater and those poor, damaged Aglionby boys – it’s basically a dream for Luna. And I have a sneaking suspicion she’d know more about Glendower than Gansey does…

Hazel Grace Lancaster (‘The Fault in Our Stars’)

Hazel - Book Thief

Hazel obviously re-reads ‘An Imperial Afflcition’ constantly, but now she’s met van Houten, we’re thinking that she’s going to want something new to obsess over. We think that Markus Zusak’s ‘The Book Thief’ is perfect for her. It’s chunky, thoughtful and will definitely live up to being read over and over again.

Baz Pitch (‘Carry On’)

Baz - OotP
(Simon and Baz fanart from Felix at feliciores)

It’s got to be ‘Harry Potter’ hasn’t it? We can just imagine Baz curled up on the sofa deep in the middle of ‘Order of the Phoenix’ and taking sneaky looks at Simon wondering why on earth this book series feels so familiar…

Elizabeth Bennett (‘Pride and Prejudice’)

Lizzie - Sun

We can imagine Lizzie being a bit snooty about YA at first, but once she’s in, she’s in. We’d probably give her ‘I’ll Give You the Sun’ by Jandy Nelson. The beautiful writing, art and emotional relationships would sweep her right up. She’s a romantic at heart, after all.
