Song-Off: Brian McFadden ‘Time To Save Our Love’ Vs. Shane Filan ‘Everything To Me’

It’s the day they’ve been dreading. Luckily for them, it’s been avoided before this. But now, it’s time to pitch two Westlife legends against each other in an almighty song-off.

After his departure from the band in 2004, Brian received slight solo success with three UK top ten singles, but after that, there wasn’t much for him. ‘Time To Save Our Love’ will serve as the first single from his fifth solo album. ‘Everything To Me’ is Shane’s first single since Westlife’s split in 2012 and has already charted at #14 here in the UK.

Now that you’ve heard all the boring stuff, it’s time to get on with the goods. It’s time for another Maximum Pop! song-off.

[column width=half]Name: Brian McFadden[/column]

[column width=half last=true]Shane Filan[/column]

[column width=half]Song: ‘Time To Save Our Love'[/column]

[column width=half last=true]’Everything To Me'[/column]

[column width=half]How do I know him?: He’s the one that left Westlife.[/column]

[column width=half last=true] He’s the one that stayed in Westlife.[/column]

[column width=half]Out: September 29.[/column]

[column width=half last=true] Right now actually.[/column]

[column width=half]Not to be confused with: We were expecting a cover of an opera song. But that’s ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. Ooh, get us going all opera![/column]

[column width=half last=true] We don’t actually know any songs that sound like or are called ‘Everything To Me’ so well done Shane! 10/10 for originality![/column]

[column width=half]About? Reminiscing about the start of a relationship that’s seemingly coming to its end and trying to saviour it. We wonder if this is was written with Kerry Katona in mind?[/column]

[column width=half last=true] Thinking about what to do next with you life and knowing that nothing matters because your partner is everything to you. Aww![/column]

[column width=half]Is it an uplifting song? Yes and no. It makes us want to run out the doors of MP! Towers and just fall happily in love with somebody, anybody! But on the other hand, it also makes us think about our ex. Oh no, we’re becoming THAT friend![/column]

[column width=half last=true] Yes! It brings a smile to your face and a tap to your toe. The lyrics make you want to go and live life the best you can. You’ll be humming it all day as well.[/column]

[column width=half]Is it better than their last song? We don’t actually remember his last song so…[/column]

[column width=half last=true] He doesn’t have a last song so YES!- we suppose.[/column]

[column width=half]Is it time for a Westlife reunion? If Brian re-joined the band and they went on some massive tour like when Robbie re-joined Take That, Geri re-joined Spice Girls and Nadine re-joined Girl… oh wait, she never actually left did she?, then tickets would fly off the shelf and it was be #AMAZEBALLS[/column]

[column width=half last=true] It might be a bit too soon for the other four members of Westlife to hold a reunion but if Brian wanted to come back then what’s wrong with one more Greatest Hits tour?[/column]

[column width=half]Should I buy it? Yes! It’s Brian’s best single since… the one that went to number one? Erm… *googles*… ‘Real To Me’![/column]

[column width=half last=true] Yes, we’re sure this is the start of a very successful solo career for Mr. Filan![/column]

So there you have it. You’ve heard the songs, you’ve read the fact files and now it’s time for you to decide which single is better.

Result: The Filaners were out in force and Shane dominated this Pop Battle. ‘Everything To Me’ won with 91.76% of the vote! Wowzers!
