Having just completed vocal surgery, Billboard Award winner, Sam Smith, was unable to attend the awards but gave a moving and humorous speech with the use of cue cards where he thanked his fans and gave a shoutout to Taylor, Ed and Nicki Minaj with a bit of friendly banter. Top lad.
